Message: Error Code -50

Why are you getting this error?

This error can occur if your Verbatim product is formatted as FAT32 for compatibility with both Mac OS and Windows systems.  Certain characters that can be used in a Mac OS X filename are not allowed in Windows FAT32 filenames.

Mac OS X prevents such files from being copied to a FAT32 formatted disk, and gives the error code -50.

A file containing any of these characters in its filename cannot be copied to a FAT32 formatted disk:

? / < > " | > *

How can you resolve this problem?

Remove these characters from the filenames of the files before you copy.

Alternatively, if you are not using the drive between both Mac OS X and a Windows PC, you can reformat the Verbatim drive as Mac OS Extended (HFS Plus).  Be sure that any important data on the volume has been backed up first. This link will walk you through the reformatting process.
