DVD-RAM is a re-writable DVD media format with the ability to drag and drop data – just like a hard drive. Designed for data-intensive, high-performance applications, DVD-RAM discs feature Verbatims unique HardCoat on the recording surface to protect discs from scratches and fingerprints. Verbatim DVD-RAM media is available with up to 5X recording speed, allowing for faster data access.

What types of DVD-RAM are available? What are the storage capacities?
DVD-RAM is available in single-sided and double-sided discs.
  • Single Sided DVD-RAM offer 4.7GB or 120 minutes of re-writable storage
  • Double Sided DVD-RAM offer 9.4GB or 240 minutes of re-writable storage 
DVD-RAM discs are available in both cartridge and disc formats. The cartridges feature a removable disc that may be used for playback in DVD-ROM drives with DVD-RAM playback capabilities.
 
Can I record over data stored on a DVD-RAM?
Yes. You can add to or write over data stored on a DVD-RAM more than 100,000 times.
 
Is special hardware required for DVD-RAM recording?
Yes. DVD-RAM discs require a DVD-RAM drive or video recorder for recording. You cannot insert the DVD-RAM disc into a standard DVD recorder and burn information to the disc. Verbatim DVD-RAM discs are compatible with drives and recorders from Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi, JVC, Samsung, LG and others.
 
Will a DVD-RAM play in my normal DVD player or DVD-ROM drive?
You may use a your DVD-ROM drive for playback of DVD-RAM media, providing it has DVD-RAM playback capability. If your DVD-RAM is in cartridge format, the disc within the DVD-RAM cartridge is removable for playback in DVD-ROM drives with DVD-RAM playback capability. However, a DVD-RAM disc will not play in a standard DVD player.
