BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

WATER FILTRATION PRODUCTS

 

Verbatim Americas LLC seeks a Business Development Associate for our new water filtration product line.  This individual will be responsible for expanding and developing new market opportunities for water filtration products by leveraging the unique strengths of filtration technology, helping to create marketing and promotional materials, and directly assisting the overall sales objectives for filtration products. The candidate will act as the primary liaison between Engineering, Marketing and Sales teams; and will drive sales in existing channels as well as developing new channels for product sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop new markets for water filtration products by aligning key technical attributes to market needs.
  • Be a technical expert on the design specifications for products and assist solving application problems in conjunction with development, manufacturing and quality engineers. Liaise with regulatory authorities as needed.
  • Develop, define and communicate features and benefits of products to Marketing/Sales.
  • Analyze competitive product features and benefits and competitors’ market direction.
  • Assist marketing and sales of differentiated products to target markets.
  • Recommend marketing activities.
  • Carry out market research, evaluate sales performance and review or formulate long-range plans, goals and objectives to develop optimum distribution policies and practices for both existing and new filtration products.
  • Serve as a consultant to the sales force to coordinate sales and related activities, advertising and public relations to achieve market objectives.
  • Assist writing press releases and white papers.
  • Coordinate and make recommendations related to pricing strategy.
  • Develop a business case for market strategy, product extensions and development of new products including financial and operational impacts.
  • Develop and give presentations to management, sales staff and customers as appropriate on significant developments or trends on assigned products.

  • Education and Experience:  Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, marketing or related area; plus one to two years of experience in business development/sales; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to understand the basic technical features of the line of products, how they work, and how they are used for by customers/consumers, or specialized vertical applications.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to understand foreign languages (Japanese, Spanish or Portuguese) helpful.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

DOMESTIC/ INTERNATIONAL ORDER ADMINISTRATOR

 

Verbatim Americas seeks a Domestic/International Order Administrator to coordinate and process all customer purchase orders and shipments within the United States and to South America, Central America and Mexico.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Understand and comply with customer agreements and requirements.
  • Review domestic/international customer orders for accuracy and compliance.
  • Enter customer orders including samples into SAP computer system.
  • Maintain proper EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) tables to ensure proper “booking“ of EDI orders into SAP.
  • Maintain special customer pricing in the SAP computer system after approval is received from proper channels.
  • Work with Buyer/Planners and Sales Support Group on product shortages and receipt times of backorders.
  • Work with Buyer/Planners/Forwarder/Shipping Company and coordinate direct shipments from factories to customers in South America / Central America and Mexico.
  • Work with Buyer/Planner/Customer and coordinate any required license or Country of Origin (COO) to make a shipment.
  • Work closely with Verbatim Credit Dept. for credit release.
  • Add SAP delivery note to warehouse to initiate a shipment.
  • Prepare all necessary documentation (NAFTA Certificate, Commercial Invoice, Pack Slip, Shipper’s Export Declaration and Shipper’s Letter of Instruction) in order to export out of the USA into Mexico, South America and Central America.
  • Work with Verbatim transportation group and Freight Forwarders to ensure proper pick up and deliver.
  • Communicate with customers or Sales Support Group regarding order status including ship dates, receipt dates and delivery delays. 
  • Assist Traffic Department and warehouses to coordinate customer shipments or claims.
  • Work with internal Verbatim staff, vendors, freight forwarders, carriers or Customs Brokers to correct and resolve problems if necessary. 
  • Process scrap in field credits.
  • Maintain order files and documents.
  • Provide input in order to classify products including Harmonized Tariff Codes, Schedule B or Export Control Classification Number (ECCN).
  • Obtain and present royalty license when appropriate to proper government agencies.
  • Work with Credit Department and Freight Forwarders when executing Letters of Credit.
  • Initiate debit and credit memos to customers when appropriate to correct billing.
  • Work with customers and Sales Support Group to correct shipping/billing discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Export knowledge a plus which includes ECCN, HTS, Incoterms 2010. EDI knowledge a plus. SAP knowledge a plus.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public in Spanish and English essential. (Portuguese a plus).
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportion and percentage.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of order processing software.   (SAP helpful, aptitude to learn SAP is essential )
