Promotions: Pink Matters

Verbatim® Americas LLC, the information storage pioneer, is “backing up” National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October – and all year round – with a “supportive” debut collection of five pretty-in-pink products to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and community outreach projects. As part of the comprehensive campaign launched September 1, 2010 and continuing through October 31, 2011, Verbatim will donate Susan G. Komen for the Cure® at least 8% of the retail sales price per Pink Product sold, with an aggregate minimum guaranteed donation of $35,000. Komen will distribute 75% of donations received from program sales in Canada to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

“Verbatim is honored to contribute to this important cause,” said Verbatim Americas, LLC President Randy Queen. “We are hopeful that our partnership with this renowned breast cancer organization will bring us that much closer to finding the cures for this terrible disease that touches the lives of so many people each year.”

According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, one in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. About 207,090 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2010 and approximately 39,840 will die from the disease. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among women worldwide.

The PINK Matters! campaign features an assortment of Verbatim’s most popular data storage and computer peripherals making their debut in attention-grabbing hot pink, such as the celebrated 500GB Acclaim portable external hard drive. Other products in the PINK Matters! line feature both product and packaging with printed pink ribbons and relief art of a dove to attract consumer attention.

The company’s 2010-2011 campaign marks the first time Verbatim has participated in such a broad-scale charitable fund-raising and promotional drive, encouraging consumers to “Save your memories while helping a great cause!” In addition, Verbatim will participate in various retailer promotions to help further boost sales and, ultimately, donations for breast cancer research and community outreach projects. Verbatim’s PINK Matters! collection will be featured on prominent retail websites with feature pages dedicated to pink ribbon products. Verbatim’s new line will also be presented on specialty displays at select retail partners.
